Subject: Kathy tells it like it is!
Author: Susan Sanchez-Casal
Date: 12/5/2005
Body: One of the things I love about Kathy's story is the way she gives us the real deal instead of a flowery version of holiday cooking in a Latino kitchen. The truth is that making enough tamales or pasteles to satisfy ravenous relatives is backbreaking work and it often makes for some tense moments. I think Kathy's dad is not only the Carlos Santana of tamale making but also a delightful coyote trickster who manages to extract his revenge in a hilarious and creative way. Bravo!
